Doctor Who 60: Anniversary Specials

In November, David Tennant and Catherine Tate reprise their roles in Doctor Who in an upcoming special. Although what are we going to expect from Russell T Davies returning as the show runner?

Russell T Davies was the writer of Doctor Who between 2005-2010 and has produced show such as Casanova and Victoria Woods Secret List. He has inferred the special will take place over the course of November. 

David Tennant is an actor who has stared as several roles in popular series such as, Crowley in Good Omens, Phileas Fogg in 80 days around the world. Catherine Tate Is a comedian who has been in The Queen Of Oz, and the Catherine Tate show. The Doctor and Donna separated on our screens in 2009 for what we thought would be forever. But in 2022 Jodie Whitaker (The 13^th Doctor) regenerated into David Tennant where fans were promised that Donna and The Doctor would be reunited in the 60^th anniversary specials.

So, what else is the BBC doing to celebrate this reunion, The BBC has said, all Doctor Who episodes/spinoffs such as, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Smith Adventures, Doctor Who Confidential, Class, and Classic Doctor Who will come on to BBC iPlayer on the 1^st of November. Also, a concert has been aired showing some of the old themes of the franchise, and some new ones such as the 60^th Anniversary Theme Tune, and The 15^th Doctors Theme Tune which will air in the 14^th series of new who at a later date. 

So, what other characters are returning to the 60^th anniversary, according to a photo someone took on the set of doctor who the late Bernard Cribbins (national treasure) will be playing one of his last roles as Donna’s Grandfather alongside Jacqueline King who will be playing Donnas Mother.  The 3 specials will also feature Jemma Redgrave playing her previous role as Kate Stewart head of UNIT.

As the 23^rd of November approaches fans are getting more excited for what is yet to come. With what has happened for the 60^th anniversary can the Doctor Who team beat this years activities for the 70^th and possibly 80^th anniversary?
